Tuition Assistance Program
Choosing the Right School
Once you’ve decided what type of course you want to take, it’s time to choose a school that’s going to meet your needs.
The Tuition Assistance Program provides funding for up to a year of a wide range of academic, trade and other courses at any designated public or private school located in B.C. Check out the following links to see the range of schools offering courses that may be eligible for funding:
To get the most out of this opportunity, it’s important to choose a school that will provide the sort of training that will really work for you. To get a better idea of the sort of school you should be looking for, ask yourself some questions:
- Do you learn best in situations where you
are given information in a classroom setting, or
when you’re getting hands-on experience?
- Will internet or other distance education
courses meet your needs, or do you need to be
there in person to get value from the training?
- Have you heard positive or negative comments
about particular schools from friends who have
taken courses?
- Does your personal situation allow you to
travel to take a course, or do you need to take
something close to home or by distance
education?
Once you have answered questions like these ones, you will have a better idea of the sort of school that will meet your needs. Now it’s time to seek out more specific information about each school you are considering.
Once you’ve made some decisions about where you want to be in the future and what skills you’ll need to get there, it’s time to pick a school that will help you get those skills.
