Transitional Assistance Program
Choosing when to receive payment
Funding to most 2009 Transitional Assistance Program
recipients will be paid during two periods: November
2009 and July 2010. You may choose to receive all of
your payment during one or the other period, or you may
divide payments between the two periods. The only
exception to this is in the case of recipients whose
60th birthday falls between November 1 and December 31,
2009. For these recipients only,
funding will be paid in January 2010 and/or July 2010.
You may choose to receive all of your payment during one
or the other period, or you may divide payments between
the two periods. After your application is approved,
we will ask you to tell us when to provide you with
payment. You must enter your choice on the
Direction to Pay form
that we will send you.
The payment timing you choose, and the form of
payment, may affect your personal finances in unexpected
ways. We strongly encourage you to
seek professional financial advice if you are
unsure about the tax and other financial implications of
your choice of payment periods. Program staff
are not able (or qualified)
to provide you with this type of advice.
